Applying Your Personalized Hockey Stick Skin

How To Apply Your Customized Hockey Stick Skin

The most important thing to remember when applying a Sniper Skinz stick wrap is to TAKE YOUR TIME. The entire process will take less than 10 minutes. The more careful and prepared you are the more perfectly your skin will adhere to the hockey stick. Before you begin applying your Skin we advise you to read all of the directions so you have an understanding of the entire process, then go back and start at Step 1.

Step 1: To start, wipe your stick clean and try to remove any glue or tape that may interfere with the wrap. Before applying cut your skin to the correct length. Start by holding the bottom of the skin where the shaft meets the blade, or in the case of a one-piece about 4-6 inches above where the blade starts to curve. These measurements are guidelines only, it is up to you how far down you want your skin to go. Now stretch the skin to the top of the stick. You'll want to cut the skin so that when you are done applying you'll be able to cover it at the top with an inch of tape.

Peel custom designed hockey stick skin from backing   Step 2: Now begin peeling your skin from the backing. Only peel it about 6-8 inches to prevent the bottom of the skin from sticking to anything before you're ready.

Line up your personlized nameplate   Step 3: On your skin you'll see faint blue and white triangles. These are guides to help you center your stick perfectly. With the front of the stick facing toward you press only the very top of the skin against the stick so that the front of the stick is lined-up exactly with the side points of the blue and white triangle. If you miss your mark the first time you can peel it off and try again. It is very important to get the top right as it will keep the whole skin lined up. Once you have it press the skin in firmly and slide your thumb down 2-3 inches.

Firmly apply the wrap that you designed   Step 4: Peel the backing off to the halfway point of your skin. Using the 2nd diamond and the nameplate as a guide continue lining up the stick and pressing it in firmly. You will find that sliding your thumb along the skin with pressure helps to remove any imperfections and bubbles thanks to an air-regress technology found on the adhesive part of our skinz.

Place bottom of Skin right above hockey stick blade   Step 5: Peel the backing all the way off. Using the last 2 diamonds and the kicker image as a guide continue applying the front of the skin keeping it centered on the front of the stick.

Firmly rub thumb over custom stick design   Step 7: Now, if the front of the skin appears to be lined up nicely use your thumb to firmly rub the front of the skin along the entire front side.

Make sure no air bubbles distort your personalized skin   Step 8: Now go back to the top of the skin and grab onto the right side. Pull firmly and apply the right side to the top of the stick. Using your thumb rub from the front of the stick around the curved edge and over the right side. You will find that this allows any air to escape and tightens the front and side of the skin onto the stick.

Repeat process down otehr side of your hockey stick   Step 9: Continue this process inch by inch down the rest of the right side. Remember to start with your thumb on the front, rub firmly around the edge and onto the entire width of the right side.

Smooth curved edge around your custom hockey stick   Step 10: Now that the right side is on snugly move back to the top and apply the right back of the skin. Similar to the last two steps you'll be starting with your thumb on the side and press firmly around the curved edge and smooth the back of the skin onto the stick.

Continue to bottom of your stick with a personalized logo   Step 11: Continue this process inch by inch until you get to the bottom again.

Now your custom hockey stick is starting to look really good   Step 12: Now perform the same steps with the left side that you did for the right. Remember to take your time. It's exciting because you can now see your stick taking new shape but be sure not to rush it.

Finish applying stick skin to bottom of hockey stick   Step 13: When you have finished applying the left side and left back go over the stick and look for any imperfections. If you find any try rubbing them out with your thumb/fingers. If you find a small bubble that won't rub in you can poke it with a needle and any imperfections will rub out. Once you are happy with your skin's application take a rag or sock and firmly wipe the skin to activate the adhesive.
